Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and manage excavation projects, ensuring all activities are executed according to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate daily activities, including site preparation, excavation, grading, and trenching operations.
- Manage project teams, subcontractors, and equipment, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Oversee project timelines, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Address and resolve issues and changes in scope as they arise, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure the quality of work and compliance with specifications.
Estimating:
- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for excavation and grading work.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
- Provide cost analysis, project timelines, and risk assessments to clients and internal teams.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, value engineering, and efficiency improvements during the estimating process.
- Assist with the preparation of project bids, proposals, and contract negotiations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in excavation project management and estimating.
- Strong knowledge of excavation methods, equipment, and materials.
- Proven experience with construction project estimating, budgeting, and cost control.
- In-depth understanding of project management principles, scheduling, and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with construction software (e.g., Procore, BuilderTrend, or similar).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with municipal and large-scale excavation projects.
- OSHA 30-hour or similar safety certifications.
